What are the common uses for it

Colloidal Silver is used to accelerate healing from surgery, burns, sunburn, cuts, scrapes and rashes.

Colloidal Silver is used extensively in treating skin conditions and works well as a skin tonifier, including as an after-shave tonic, more quickly sealing up nicks and skin burns. It also resolves many skin fungal rashes. Colloidal Silver is successfully used in eyes for pink eye, sties and other eye infections. Oral and genital herpes have been treated successfully.

Colloidal silver is also considered an antibiotic as it inhibits or kills most infections, including "superbugs" that have become antibiotic resistant and can be hard to resolve. For internal, systemic infections it is taken orally or with a nebulizer. If taken orally it goes through the digestive system, which can reduce some of it effectiveness and places a small additional burden on the filtration responsibilities of the liver and kidney.

When used for treating internal systemic infections it mostly is taken orally, especially for stomach infections or candida. For respiratory infections a nebulizer is commonly used by inhaling the mist, similar to taking pharmaceutical liquid medications. This can be used with a mask, but works well just breathing in the mist. Inhaling through the nose is a good way to clear out infections in the nasal passage. One advantage of nebulizing colloidal silver, or any suitable liquid mineral, is that it goes directly into the lungs and then on to the blood stream, bypassing the digestive system and relieving the filtration system of the liver and kidney.

Nebulizing

Nebulizing is a great way to treat sore throat and lungs.

A new type of nebulizer has been available for the last few years that is less expensive and produces a finer mist that penetrates the lungs more readily than a traditional nebulizer that uses a noisy pump and plugs into wall power.

This new type is a mesh ultrasonic nebulizer and costs about $50. It is silent, portable and fits in your hand.

The mist nebulizers will run off of a phone type usb charger/power supply or can use 2 AA batteries. It uses a significant amount of power and will go through a set of batteries quickly, making disposable alkaline batteries expensive, impractical and not good for the earth.

I strongly recommend rechargeable Lithium batteries as these provide a full 1.5volts, have a long run time and can be recharged over 1,000 times. This kind AA power was just not available 3 years ago and now only costs about $25.

Oral Health

Colloidal Silver And Oral Health

One of the most effective and popular topical uses for colloidal silver is for oral healthcare. It can heal up infected tooth pockets and significantly improve overall mouth health. Studies show oral bad breath is due to unhealthy bacteria and, unsurprisingly, colloidal silver is a great unscented mouth wash leaving your mouth feeling fresh. I gargle with it daily and swallow a small amount as part of my daily intake.

A great way to clean the tooth root sockets is using a perio-aid holding a half toothpick. Dip the toothpick in a little colloidal silver in a shot glass. Keep it wet. Trace around the infected root at the bottom of the pocket. If treating inflamed gum infections, encourage bleeding initially to insure the infection is lanced and the colloidal silver can disinfect the area. Bamboo toothpicks are best as they are narrower and stronger. This is a non-toxic treatment, much more preferrable to toxic antibacterial rinses and more effective. Your periodontist will be amazed! Mine was!

Use bamboo toothpicks as they are a smaller diameter and stronger.

A final note about oral health care. If you have mild gum inflammation, after brushing and rinsing normally, dip the brush head of a SonicCare toothbrush in colloidal silver and force the brush bristles into the tender sockets or gums. This can cleanup many small mouth issues and reduce the need for cleaning time at the dentist.

They Can Use Colloidal Silver Also!

I use colloidal silver to extend the life of raw pet food. I also add a small amount to their water.

How People Are Keeping Their Cats Healthy

In flea season, using colloidal silver to treat flea bits and the surrounding skin rash keeps the cats from having flea collars or other pharmaceuticals. This is part of a holistic approach to my cat care. I have two 10 year old, once feral cats that have never needed to go to a vet. Of course, they get treated holistically with raw food and nutrients and I am sure colloidal helps manage disease for them.
