Is Colloidal Silver Safe To Use?

When used according to dosage guidelines, colloidal silver is very safe to use, comparable to other vitamins and nutrients. The EPA has established guidelines for total allowable silver daily intake if used continuously for 70 years. This includes all forms of silver, which is really hard to know how much silver is in your water, food, clothing, etc. Some safety experts say you should only take about 25% -50% of the allowable amount to be totally safe. Many long term users take considerable more. Many people take well above the EPA guidelines and have no problems. When addressing an infection, many users take internally 2-4 ounces/day for 10 days or so, like an antibiotic course. I think all colloidal silver above 25ppm is much more dangerous due to the additives necessary to make it strong. I suggest not taking any of these. Make sure your healthcare team is involved if taking any doses internally above EPA guidelines. Everyone is unique in their sensitivities and has to decide on benefit/risk balance.

Safe dosage

Below is the EPA recommendation for the total allowable amount of ingested silver daily for a period of 70 years to be totally safe. It is not uncommon to take this amount of colloidal silver regularly and more when treating a sickness. Please note that this daily dosage is safe to take for 70 years. Most colloidal silver users started taking it later in life and the shorter overall period of use implies that a greater dose can be safely taken, especially for short periods to address disease.

The Silver Safety Council has complete dosage information based on the EPA RfD total cumulative guidelines: Silver; CASRN 7440-22-4.

The auto-calculator displays the allowable Daily Use, Short-term Use and Lifetime Total Use based on one's weight and the ppm strength of the colloidal silver. The result displays 25% of the EPA guidelines, taking into account the worst-case possible silver intake from all sources of silver.

Although many people successfully take more than this amount to address health issues, understanding this dosage baseline is a good, safe place to start.
